Juvenile Crime

I have been representing juveniles since I began practicing law. Although the basic law regarding whether something a juvenile has done is illegal, is the same as an adult. In other words, if it is a crime for an adult, it is usually a juvenile violation.

The juvenile system is designed to rehabilitate the child where as the criminal system for an adult is designed more to punish.  A lot of the terminology is different from criminal cases. A juvenile defendant is called the Respondent. A juvenile is not found guilty, they are adjudicated delinquent. Although the juvenile system is supposed to be rehabilitative, I have found it to be quite punitive in my practice. I believe that juvenile cases should be defended with the same dedication and vigor as criminal cases. Please call my office so that I can discuss with you the charges and give you an estimate for representation.
